About Reberta

The petite raen before you has been seasoned from the liberation of her homeland of Doma, its subsequent inclusion within the Eorzean alliance and her years training and growing among its adventurer community. Reberta is a student-turned-spearwoman and the last remaining heir to wield her ancestors' water-attuned elemental armor and lance.Since Reberta's birth, she had been unable to wield aether without the ancestral armaments. After completing a pilgrimage to honor her mother and in turn her patron kami, Seiryu, she has developed the capability to wield water aether in the defense of her friends and homeland.No longer quite as naive as she once was as a refugee, her training with the city states' myriad free companies and academies have forged her into a spear samurai, elementalist and sage with many years ahead of her.In the many turns of the star since her pilgrimage, Reberta befriended a water kami named Dewdrop who has strengthened both their bonds to the waterways of Eorzea. Not to be confused with the Nahel bond of a windspren, the connection between Reberta and Dewdrop enables both of them a heightened degree of aethersense and watershaping.If it could be said that Reberta possesses any Rosharian surges through her bond with Dewdrop, they would be similar to gravitation and progression.

Appearance

Standing a meager 5 foot tall, Reberta is perhaps of average height among raen women, although her tail is thinner than most of her fellow au ra. Sporting snow white hair with the barest traces of sapphire highlights that belies her age, this doman native keeps her locks combed and braided short. This might be because she often wears a close-faced helmet.Aside from her forward-facing horns, the more immediate standout of her aesthetic is her pair of vividly glowing blue-green eyes. What might once have been a lamplike limbal ring now appears to fill out nearly the entirety of Reberta's irises. Those aetherically inclined or gifted with enhanced sight would recognize an almost unnatural elemental density toward water in those hues likely to illuminate many an evening.Devoid of scars across her visible skin and alabaster scales, Reberta carries herself upright with pride and posture. Although she might well be lounging against a wall or pillar nearby, she's more than likely taking a breather from her cross-country traveling by studying those around her with her curious eyes.If she is wearing a suit of armor more scaled and spikey as opposed to sculpted and starlit, those nearby might notice that her tail is encased within a protective, metallic sheath.

Hooks

  • Reberta was born and raised in the Doman village of Namai in Yanxia. Others around her age from the same village might remember her as one of the few au ra children with a human father. She also tended to enjoy reading and watching the boys train with blades.

  • Although Reberta was one of the countless Doman refugees to flee the death and destruction following her homeland's failed rebellion, what she brought back to Eorzea from her slain parents might raise some eyebrows. What she purports to be her mother's ancestral water armor bears an uncanny resemblance to the scaled mail suits that some Ishgardian dragoons wear.

  • During her time as a greenhorn adventurer in Eorzea, Reberta favored taking up many a bodyguard or escort job, albeit specifically for archaeological or anthropological clients. One such contract was the Domans' national effort to unearth Seiryu's Aegis, and her time as a samurai guardswoman might have stuck in the minds of aetherologists present at the dig.

  • For the duration of the so-called Final Days, Reberta might have been a name recalled from pockets of distant war fronts or supply routes throughout Eorzea and Ilsabard. Few seemed to be able to put a face to the name of the field medic, but common among all the reports were sightings of a sapphire light streaking across the sky when she departed.

  • Reberta is a regular resident and visitor at the Doman Enclave, where she has since been promoted from a mercenary irregular to a commissioned yari samurai. Those frequenting Yanxia might or might not have spotted her on her patrols around the inner countryside as well as its wild mountains.

  • Even if the water kami isn't visible to the naked eye, those with aethersense, aethersight or a nose for surgebinders would be able to tell that Reberta is never alone. The ancient yanxian sea spirit shares an unspoken, unseen and unmistakable tether with her nascent not-quite-knight radiant.
